Hello all-
Anyone know the Torx bit size required to change the front pads? Looks about a T55 or T60. You can't change the pads by pulling the caliper- yous accept to swing away the muzzle.
BTW, has anyone else encountered severe premature *rear* pad wear? I merely replaced the rear pads at 34k, and the fronts look brand new. I haven't noticed any signs of them dragging. I suspected the dynamic proportioning valve, simply the dealer dismissed the thought (not that necessarily ways anything, in my experience).

I had heard that belatedly model chevy trucks with disc brakes always wore out the right rear pads get-go and my 99 silverado proved this to me as well. In fact the guys at the shop have even replaced some correct rear only pads-sending the other set home with the customer to apply when the adjacent set wore out. I don't concur with this because the pads are not that expensive and would't desire the vehicle to pull but they claim that some folks don't have a trouble with doing this and have not had whatsoever comebacks. I mentioned this on a prior postal service some months ago. They actually showed me a couple. They seem to think that gm has a bad proportioning valve. All these guys do is frazzle, brakes, shocks and the similar, but they e'er care for me well. Just what I have heard.......

Yeah, I noticed that thread. Pad wear was higher on the piston side of the caliper (which is non also unusual), but consistant side to side.

Did your pins announced to be lubed?
Also, on my dealers "Factory Scheduled Maintenance" shcedule for 15,000 miles and 30,000 miles, they recomend lubing the caliper slide pins. ?This appears to be a new recommendation from them, in the by ten years of dealing with them, I have never heard of this before.
There's grit comprehend over the pins, and I didn't look. The uneven pad wear I described could betoken the caliper is not floating as freely every bit it could. I thought nigh this at the time, but just didn't know what to lubricate the pins with. Is a hullo-temp begetting grease acceptable or is there really a special caliper pivot lube?

green02,
The service writer checked with the technician. ?He uses:
"Silcone Lubricant part number 18010908"
This is the 1/4 silicone lubricant that comes with your new pads. ?I don't know if information technology is available separately. ?
The packet says: ?"Contains: Dimethyl Polysiloxane 63148-62-9 Amorphous Silica 112945-52-5 Net Wt.1/four Oz.
Hope this helps,
Conduct
